• The Pudhumai Penn initiative offers females enrolled in government schools in grades 6 through 12 financial aid of Rs.1,000 per month till they finish their UG degree, ITI, certificate or any other recognised education regardless of the field.
• Every month, Rs.1,000 is sent straight into the student’s bank account.
• The scheme dissuades parents from letting their daughters marry early by offering financial help, improving their confidence and encouraging female students to complete their studies.
• The budget for it which intends to assist 6 lakh female students yearly is Rs. 698 crores.
• In the first stage of this scheme,613 students received debit cards.
• Around 6,500 children in the Tiruchi area who attend schools for the arts, sciences and engineering benefit from this scheme.
