The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I Men’s College Basketball Tournament of 2023 will feature 68 teams playing in a single-elimination tournament to determine the national champion for this season. The championship game will be played on April 3 at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas, to finish off the 84th annual edition of the tournament, which will start on March 14 and finish on that date.
The NCAA Final Four will be held in NRG Stadium for a third time; it did so in 2011 and 2016. This will be the city of Houston’s fourth appearance (organized at the Astrodome in 1971). Houston, Texas has hosted the first and second rounds four times, as well as the regional finals six times, in addition to the Final Four (including 2008, 2010 and 2015 at NRG Stadium). The First Four games of the NCAA Men’s Division 1 Basketball Tournament 2023 will take place in Dayton, Ohio on March 14–15. The championship game for this year will take place on April 3, 2023, on Selection Sunday, March 12, 2023. This year, 68 teams have registered for the tournament, and each programme that won a conference championship will receive 32 automatic bids.
The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Selection Committee expands their selections for the remaining 36 bids, which are awarded “at-large.” Additionally, the NCAA Selection Committee will seed every team in the field from 1 to 68.
