Police in Victoria and New South Wales are trying to find a person who fired a gun when police tried to arrest him at a property in northern Victoria yesterday.

Stanley Turvey, who has distinctive tattoos on his face and physique, is believed to be armed and police say he shouldn’t be approached.


Victoria Police issued a warrant for his arrest on a kidnap cost this morning.

Police say Turvey was armed when Shepparton detectives arrived at a Katandra West property to arrest him over a separate matter round noon on Monday.

Turvey was challenged by police to drop the weapon when he fired a shot into the air earlier than fleeing the scene in a car.

He  then stopped at a home in Youanmite and compelled a person to drive him throughout the border to Finley in New South Wales.

Turvey, who police say let the motive force go in Finley and didn’t hurt him, has been charged with kidnap over the incident.

Police haven’t launched particulars on why they had been on the Katandra West property to arrest Turvey initially.

Yesterday, two cops who had been in pursuit of Turvey after he fled the property, had been handled in hospital for minor accidents after they misplaced management of their car and it rolled.

Police say anybody who sees Turvey mustn’t method him and will name triple-0 instantly.
