About SC Post Matric Scholarship Scheme

SC Post Matric Scholarship 2021 is a centrally sponsored scheme that has been started by the Central Government and is implemented through state government administration and union territories administration. Under this scheme financial assistance to scheduled caste students is provided at the post-matric level so that they can continue with their education without facing any financial hurdles. It must be noted that the scheme is available for getting education only in India. This scheme is awarded by the Government of the state where the applicant permanently resides. The total number of slots under this scheme is 4200. Under this scheme, SC students pursuing studies beyond 12th class will be given scholarships.

SC Post Matric Scholarship Scheme Evaluation

It should note that only those students can take the benefit of SC Post Matric Scholarship 2021 whose parent’s income from all sources does not exceed Rs. 800000. The Ministry Of Social justice and empowerment will evaluate the performance of this scheme once in three years. All those States who are implementing this scheme will require to monitor the physical and financial performance of the scheme. States also require to submit financial and physical progress reports to the central government. All the year-wise details of the student are to be maintained by the state government in order to renew the scholarship.

Objective Of SC Post Matric Scholarship Scheme

The main objective of SC Post Matric Scholarship 2021 is to provide scholarships to all those students who belong to a scheduled caste and are not able to finance their education due to their financial condition. By the successful implementation of the scheme, all the students of scheduled caste will get financial assistance. Every student will get their basic right to education. Under this scheme, SC students pursuing education beyond class 12th will be considered. All the institutions that are notified by the Ministry Of Social justice and empowerment will be covered under this scheme.

SC Post Matric Scholarship Scheme 4 Crore Students To Get Benefit

On 24th December 2020, the central government has approved a sum of Rs 59,048 crore for the scheme. Out of this Rs 59,048 crore, Rs 35,534 crore will be provided by the Central Government which comprises 60% of the total amount. The rest will be spent by the State Government. This program will replace the existing committed liability system. Due to this existing committed liability system, the state governments were only receiving 11 % of the assistance amount from the central government under the SC Post Matric Scholarship Scheme resulting in discontinuing it.

Now the central government will spend 60% of the total assistance amount under the Scheme in the next five years. This scheme is going to benefit around 4 crore students. Under this scheme, the benefit amount will transfer directly into the bank account of the beneficiaries through direct benefit transfer through the Aadhaar enabled payment system. The social audit will also take place in order to strengthen the monitoring mechanism under the Scheme.

SC Post Matric Scholarship Scheme Implementation

For the effective implementation of the SC Post Matric Scholarship 2021 the state government requires to formulate guidelines in order to assess the eligibility of beneficiaries and institutions. The State government will receive assistance from the central government for the total expenditure of the scheme. Every year the scheme will announce in May-June. All those students who belong to some other state and are studying in some other states will be given scholarships by the state to which they belong.

Scholarship Amount Under SC Post Matric Scholarship Scheme

• Full Tuition Fees(including non-refundable charges): Rs 2 lakh per annum for students studying in private sector institutions and Rs 3.72 lakh per annum for private sector flying club
• Living Expenses: Rs 3000/- per month per student
• Books and stationery: Rs 5000/- per annum per student
• For Computer/Laptop: Rs 45000/- one time assistance

Note: The Ministry Of Social justice and empowerment will fund this SC Scholarship. Tuition fees and non-refundable charges will directly pay to the institution by the central government through DBT mode and the payment of other expenses will be made directly into the bank account of a student by the DBT method.

Eligibility Criteria Of SC Post Matric Scholarship Scheme

• Applicant must be a permanent resident of India
• Applicant must be studying at post-matric level
• The applicant must belong to the SC category
• If the applications received are more than the available slots then the government will give the scholarship to the top students according to merit
• If there is more than one student with equal marks then the scholarship will be given to the student having a lower family income.
• 30% of Available slots will reserve for SC girl students
• Only 2 students of a single-family can take the benefit of the scheme

• If the student fails to get promoted to the next semester or class then the scholarship will be terminated
