About SAMRIDH Scheme 2021


The Government of India provides various kinds of benefits in the form of initiative and financial support in order to push the startup ecosystem. Because of this support many citizens are inspired to start their own business so the ministry of electronics and information technology has come up with the MeitY SAMRIDH Scheme so that all those software startups who have brilliant solutions and proof of concept for their product can get financial support.


  • Through this scheme a platform will be provided to startups so that they can enhance their product and secure investment in order to scale their business. The existing and upcoming accelerators will be provided support for extending their services. The government is going to provide a funding upto Rs 40 lakh to startups under this scheme according to their current valuation and growth stage through accelerators.
  • The accelerators are invited to apply online to become partners with MeitY and provide a startup accelerator program of 6 months every year. This scheme will support around 300 tech startups through about 40 cohorts.

Objective Of SAMRIDH Scheme

As you all may be aware that many startups close down within four years of incorporation. Not because of poor quality of products but because of lack of investment or underdeveloped skill set. Keeping this thing in mind the Government of India has launched the MeitY SAMRIDH Scheme. The main objective of the MeitY SAMRIDH scheme is to provide funding support to the startups so that they can become successful. Through this scheme, not only funding support but also skill sets will be provided to the entrepreneurs. Acceleration will be provided to startups by providing customer connect, investor connects and international connect services. This scheme will prove to be a boon in pushing the startup ecosystem. Now the entrepreneurs will get funding that will help them in expanding their business.

Implementing Agency Of MeitY SAMRIDH Scheme

  • MeitY SAMRIDH Scheme will be implemented through MeitY startup Hub
  • Implementing agencies going to form a project management unit
  • This unit will be responsible for implementing this screen
  • MeitY startup hub will take equity in startup for government contribution via promissory of or safe note same as a accelerator which will utilise for self sustainability of program
  • Scheme Management Committee will also be constituted in order to oversee all aspects related to effective implementation of the scheme
  • The scheme Management Committee will be responsible for reviewing the progress of the program in terms of its objective from time to time
  • This committee is also responsible for providing guidance and recommend changes or amendments for the improvement of the program

Eligibility Criteria

  • The Accelerator must have been in the business of incubation for more than 3 years. Accelerator must have supported at least 50 startups of which at least 10 have received non public investment or having targeted accelerator program with an experience of running at least 3 cohorts with activities listed as desirable under Samridh
  • Accelerator must have operations in India
  • The accelerators must have necessary space and infrastructure to carry out activities of startup
  • Should have demonstration capability with regard to
    • Structure cohort for accelerating deep tech software product startup
    • Onboarded with leading business mentor
    • Network/connect with venture capitalist/Angel investor
    • Supporting startup for domestic and international market immersion

Selection Procedure Of Accelerators

  • The implementing agencies will invite expression of interest from the eligible accelerators
  • Expert committee will be responsible for selecting the accelerators and comprising representatives for government, industry and investor
  • Those accelerators who have prior experience of running cohorts will be prioritized over others

Services And Activities Of Accelerator

In order to fit the needs of each startup, the accelerator will be tasked with developing customized acceleration programs in the cohort and provide services that range from customer connect, investor connect, capacity enhancement, product enhancement, etc. The budget of the above-mentioned activities is 2 lakh per start-up to a maximum of 20 lakh per cohort. In each of the cohorts which are organized by the shortlisted accelerator, a maximum of 10 startups and a minimum of 5 startups can be supported who are working in the domain area of the software products.
